Frank Wigley, Jr., 86 of Bedford, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born in Oxford, Mississippi, to Frank Wigley, Sr., and Evelyn Mitchell. Frank served four years in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Electronic Naval Technician from 1958 to 1962, including overseas duty. He soon started at Crane NSA as an Electronic Technician in their Sidewinder Missile Division, where he retired after 30 years. Frank enjoyed hunting, playing poker, barbecues… but his passion was gardening, where he was a master gardener who appreciated sharing his knowledge with others by teaching classes, and working at the local fair and Farmer’s Market. He was also a member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club.
Frank is survived by the love of his life, Katie Sue Wigley, they have shared 37 years of marriage, three sons, Frank Wigley III of Bedford, John Wigley of Bloomington, and William Wigley of Bloomington, three stepchildren, Janie Terrell of Orangeville, Marc (Stephanie) Rutherford of Campbellsburg, and Sherri (Mike) Bell of Indianapolis, 17 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank Wigley, Sr., his mother, Evelyn Mitchell, and his brother, Bill Wigley.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Military rites will be given by the Bedford American Legion Post 33. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
