Washington County man arrested in Kentucky on child molestation charges

SALEM – A Washington County man was apprehended in Louisville, Kentucky, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, by Indiana State Police with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service. Benjamin D. Turner, 40, was arrested on a warrant for four counts of child molestation, each a Level 1 felony.

The investigation began in March 2025 after a report from an Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) family case manager to ISP Detective Travis Baker. Detective Baker and DCS personnel conducted a criminal investigation, which included a forensic interview at a local child advocacy center. The interview revealed alleged illegal sexual contact between a child and Turner.

Following Detective Baker’s investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Turner, who was believed to be in the Louisville area. The U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force located Turner on Tuesday and took him into custody without incident. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Indiana to face the charges.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
