Obituary: Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Edward Whitner

January 25, 1960 – April 15, 2025

Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Edward Whitner, 65, of Evansville, IN, passed away in his home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

He was born on January 25, 1960, in Bedford, IN, to Albert Edward “Ed” and Donna Marie (Oard) Whitner. Jeff graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School in 1978 and later earned his B.S. in Business Administration Management, magna cum laude, from Columbia Southern University. He served in the United States Navy for 15 years, including active duty during Operation Desert Storm, and was proud to be a plank owner of the USS Mitscher. Jeff was deeply honored to serve his country.

A man of faith, Jeff attended both The Gathering Church in Evansville and Momentum Church in Bedford. He was also a member of the Disciples Christian Motorcycle Group.

Jeff had a generous spirit and a big heart. He loved his family and friends deeply and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed logging miles on his motorcycle, had a passion for fishing, and could often be found working on vehicles.

Surviving to cherish Jeff’s memory are his two daughters, Jessica (Daniel) Kent and Amanda (Matt) Coats; one granddaughter, Shelby; one brother, John (Valena) Whitner; one sister, Jennifer (Gary) Flynn; his stepmother, Annette Whitner; two stepsisters, Rose Henry and Roxanne Southern; two nephews, Tyler (Jen) Flynn and Ryan (Kayla) Flynn; one niece, Nichole Whitner; great-nieces, Tessa, Alexis, Sydney, Ryley, and Madigan; great-nephews, Aiden and Kellan; and his very dear friend, Diana Starr. 

Preceding Jeff in death are his parents, Albert Edward ‘Ed’ and Donna Marie (Oard) Whitner; one son, Steven Whitner; one niece, Stacey Orman-Glotzbach; and two great nephews, Derek Finney and Chase Orman-Glotzbach.”

Visitation will be held at Momentum Church in Bedford, IN, on Thursday, April 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow, officiated by Pastor Reno Bates. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25th, at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 N. Gate Road, Madison, IN, 47250.
