Guardian Bikes to establish nation’s first large-scale bicycle frame plant in Southern Indiana

SEYMOURGuardian Bikes has announced an ambitious plan to build the nation’s first large-scale bicycle frame manufacturing plant in southern Indiana. The new state-of-the-art facility will be located at Guardian’s advanced manufacturing hub in Seymour, marking a significant step towards domestic bicycle production.

The project is made possible through $19 million in financing secured from JPMorgan Chase. The new facility will be located in Guardian’s advanced manufacturing hub in Seymour.

Company leaders say the project marks “a significant step in reshoring a critical industry that was once a cornerstone of American manufacturing but has been nearly entirely offshore for decades.”

The plant will utilize cutting-edge technology, including robotic welding, advanced laser cutting, and sophisticated automation, to produce bicycle frames at scale using domestically sourced steel and aluminum. This move is expected to streamline Guardian Bikes’ production process and strengthen its commitment to American manufacturing.

“We’re not just building bikes—we’re rebuilding an industry. And we’re doing it with cutting-edge automation, good-paying local jobs, and an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and resilience,” Guardian Bikes CEO Brian Riley said in a release.

Company leaders say the new Seymour facility will serve as a catalyst for a full-scale domestic bicycle supply chain — from handlebars to hubs — anchored in the Midwest. Guardian already operates distribution centers in Indiana, California, and Pennsylvania, and plans to open others in Texas and Florida.
