LAWRENCE CO. – A Norman man was arrested Friday morning following a domestic dispute that allegedly turned physical.
According to an affidavit for probable cause filed by Deputy Travis Atchison of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, Robert Hilderbrand, 27, faces preliminary charges of domestic battery, interference with reporting a crime, and criminal confinement.

On Friday, April 18th, at approximately 10:18 a.m., the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call from a woman reporting a physical altercation with her boyfriend, Hilderbrand. Deputies Atchison and Tillett responded to the Hickory Grove Road address.
Dispatch updates indicated that Hilderbrand had allegedly taken the woman’s phone while she was speaking with her mother and then disconnected the call. Attempts to call the woman back were unsuccessful.
Upon arrival, Deputy Atchison found the female lying on the side of the road and Hilderbrand walking towards her. Hilderbrand was detained in handcuffs.
The woman stated she had been attempting to leave the residence, but Hilderbrand was preventing her. She reportedly managed to get into a vehicle, but Hilderbrand climbed onto the hood. Although the vehicle doors were locked, Hilderbrand allegedly had a key, unlocked the doors, and when the woman moved to exit from the passenger side, he caught her, grabbed her arm, and shoved her to the ground. The woman stated she was able to get away just as deputies arrived. She also indicated that the couple had been together for over a year and a half and had only experienced verbal arguments previously.
Deputy Atchison noted red marks on the woman’s right arm and a small red mark on her left arm. She also showed a small cut on her ring finger, which she stated occurred when Hilderbrand tried to take the car keys from her before she left the residence.
A probable cause battery affidavit was completed with the woman indicating she wished to press charges. Photographs of her injuries were taken and will be included in the official report.
IU Health EMS responded to the scene to evaluate the woman’s injuries, but she was not transported to the hospital. Her mother was on her way to pick her up.
Hilderbrand was arrested at the scene and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. Deputy Tillett advised him of his Miranda Rights before transporting him to jail.
