LAWRENCE CO.– Motorists in the Mitchell area should be aware of upcoming road closures due to a paving project scheduled to begin next week. The City of Mitchell has announced that, weather permitting, portions of several roads will be paved on various dates spanning from Monday, April 21st, through Friday, May 9th.
To keep local traffic informed, signal trailers will be deployed in the area where paving work is taking place. It is important to note that the affected roads will be closed to through traffic while paving is actively underway. Road closure signs will be strategically placed at the last intersection before the project area on each road.
The current paving schedule, subject to weather conditions, is as follows:
- Monday, April 21st: Tunnelton Bono Road
- Tuesday, April 22nd: Gresham Road
- Wednesday, April 23rd: South Leatherwood Road
- Thursday, April 24th: South Leatherwood Road
- Friday, April 25th: Boyd Lane
- Monday, April 28th: Tripleton Pike
- Tuesday, April 29th: Davey Cox
- Friday, May 9th: Donica Church Road
Lawrence County Highway Superintendent Brian Sowder has stated that this schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions and the progress of the paving work. Residents and commuters are advised to seek alternate routes during these closures.
Additional road paving is planned, and updates will be provided to the public as they become available.
Motorists are urged to pay close attention to road closure signage and exercise caution in the affected areas.
