Judge orders prison sentence for Bedford man who failed to comply with probation

BEDFORDOn April 10, 2025, Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced a Bedford man to the Indiana Department of Correction after he failed to comply with the terms of his probation. 

Devin Johnson, 29, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Dealing in a Narcotic Drug, a Level 4 felony, on April 27, 2023, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. He was originally sentenced to 6 years, with 3 years suspended and credit for 181 actual days. He was ordered to serve 3 years on supervised probation, which included participation in ADAPT substance abuse treatment, in exchange for his guilty plea.

However, on April 10, 2025, after Johnson failed to comply with the terms and conditions of his probation, the Hon. Robert Cline sentenced Johnson to 1,090 days in the Indiana Department of Correction and terminated his probation unsuccessfully. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy stated, “Probation is a privilege meant to support rehabilitation, but when it is violated, accountability must follow.”
