SEYMOUR – A man who was living and working illegally in Seymour was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.

The arrest followed a tip sent to the Offender Watch Program on March 29, which alleged that Viveros-Gonzales, a convicted sex offender, was living and working in Seymour without registering as required by law, according to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer.

Lt. Adam Nicholson of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, who oversees sex offenders, initiated an investigation based on the tip.

Sheriff Meyer stated that the investigation revealed Viveros-Gonzalez was convicted of child molesting in 2008 and subsequently deported.

Court records indicate that Viveros-Gonzalez was sentenced to four years in prison on January 21, 2009, in Jackson Circuit Court. He was ordered to serve two years but received 169 days credit and 169 days credit time. He was released on August 4, 2009, and deported.

During his investigation, Lt. Nicholson also discovered an alias for Viveros-Gonzalez, Mario V. Ruelas Jr., with a different date of birth, within the Jackson County Jail Management System (JMS).

The JMS screen for Ruelas Jr. contained a note indicating the same date of birth as Pablo Viveros-Gonzales.

According to Meyer, after comparing photos associated with both names, Lt. Nicholson concluded that they depicted the same person, noting the same facial features and tattoos.

Lt. Nicholson’s further search of the JMS revealed that Viveros-Gonzales had used yet another date of birth. A photo associated with this record also matched the previous identities.

On Tuesday, Lt. Nicholson located Viveros-Gonzalez working at a Seymour factory under Jesus Acevedo.

Lt. Nicholson arrested Viveros-Gonzalez for the charge of failing to register as a sex offender and transported him to the Jackson County Jail.
