Loogootee’s Oak Street Village Development progresses, bringing workforce housing

LOOGOOTEE – The City of Loogootee has announced significant progress in the development of Oak Street Village, a $14 million project to bring 50 workforce housing units to the community.

Joe White of JBH Ventures and Travis Vencel of Sullivan Development are leading the project. It is specifically designed to provide modern housing options for young families and working residents. City officials emphasize that Oak Street Village is not a Section 8 project but rather an affordable workforce housing initiative aimed at supporting individuals living and working in Loogootee and Martin County.

Plans for the development also include a standalone public daycare center.

The project team is also exploring partnerships to offer additional resources to residents, such as soft skills training, certifications, and financial literacy programs. The long-term vision is to help residents achieve homeownership.

Pending final approvals from the city, the project targets a groundbreaking in July.

In addition to the housing units, Oak Street Village will feature several community amenities, including a coworking-style community center, outdoor pickleball courts, and a public park with a pavilion.

A project website is currently being developed and will provide ongoing updates and pre-leasing information as construction progresses.
