TERRE HAUTE— Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith recently held a roundtable discussion in Terre Haute, continuing his statewide faith-based initiative to unite faith leaders.

This ongoing series of roundtable events has sparked much-needed conversations, explaining how churches and charities can provide solutions to the state’s long-standing challenges.
“Faith-based organizations and private charities offer practical and compassionate solutions that often exceed what the government can deliver,” Lieutenant Governor Beckwith said. “For example, private charities provide more than 70% of assistance to those in need nationwide – a clear testament to their effectiveness and dedication. Our faith-based initiative is about empowering these groups to continue their incredible work and ensuring they have a voice in shaping the future of Indiana.”
The Terre Haute roundtable welcomed pastors and non-profit leaders to discuss pressing issues such as mental health, foster care, and parental rights in education.
The initiative emphasizes the importance of religious leaders in guiding their congregations on complex political and social matters.
“The government cannot efficiently accommodate the individual needs of every single person,” Lieutenant Governor Beckwith said. “It’s the pastors and the people around you who know how to help truly, and that’s what this project focuses on – real help for those struggling. It’s going to take all of us working together to make a real difference, and if we keep operating in separate silos, it will never happen.”
Lieutenant Governor Beckwith and others aim to provide resources to help leaders address these topics in a way that promotes unity and shared values.
The Terre Haute event is just one of many steps to strengthen this partnership and ensure that Indiana communities continue to benefit from the vital work of churches and charities, creating a more holistic Indiana.
