Barr-Reeve rolls past BNL in quick opener

MONTGOMERY – Barr-Reeve swept to a quick 5-0 victory over Bedford North Lawrence in the season opener on Monday afternoon.

The Vikings did not drop a game in the five matches.

”The girls got their first experience in a varsity match, and it left a sour taste in our mouths,” BNL first-year coach Ian Dillman said. “We struggled with our footwork, early preparation, and game readiness. It was a good wake-up call for us on what we need to work and build on.”

Barr-Reeve’s Brylee Fuhrman set the tone at No.1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Emma Conover. Brynnlee Rollins posted a similar victory over Lauren Salzman at No.2, and Brooky Pavey topped Jada Key at No.3.

In doubles, Barr-Reeve’s Liv Emmons and Anniston Kelso cruised past Bailey Guthrie and Laura Wires 6-0, 6-0 at No.1, while Faith Fuhs and Shay Knepp defeated Claire Edwards and Emma Voris by the same score at No.2.

The Stars will host North Daviess on Thursday.
