Martin County launches façade grant program to revitalize downtown areas

MARTIN CO.—The Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth, in collaboration with the Martin County Redevelopment Commission, has unveiled a new initiative to enhance the aesthetic appeal of downtown Crane, Loogootee, and Shoals. The Quick Impact Façade Grant Program will assist businesses and property owners looking to make exterior building improvements.

The program offers a one-to-one matching grant, meaning that for every dollar a participant invests in their project, the program will match it, up to a maximum of $4,000 per project. With $40,000 allocated for 2025, the program aims to support multiple revitalization efforts across the three towns.

Improving the facades will enhance the visual appeal of these areas and stimulate economic activity. This program is designed to provide accessible funding for many improvement projects.

Notably, the program does not require a minimum project cost, making it feasible for businesses and property owners with varying budgets and improvement plans to participate. Eligible projects could include, but are not limited to, painting, signage, window replacements, and exterior repairs.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by Thursday, April 10. This initiative represents a significant step towards revitalizing Martin County’s historic downtown areas and fostering a more vibrant community.
