Lawrence County Growth Council Update: Fostering business and community development

BEDFORDDuring Tuesday morning’s meeting, Lawrence County Growth Council CEO Shance Sizemore provided the Commissioners with a comprehensive update on the council’s activities and initiatives.

Sizemore outlined the Growth Council’s core mission: to support the growth of Lawrence County businesses through startup support, workforce solutions, and technical assistance, ultimately promoting investment that improves the quality of life for local citizens.

“Our goal is to create a thriving economic environment in Lawrence County,” Sizemore explained. “We work diligently to provide businesses with the resources and support they need to succeed.”

The council’s multifaceted approach includes:

  • Business Retention and Expansion: Assisting existing businesses in growing and remaining in the county.
  • Tax Abatements and Negotiations: Facilitating favorable conditions for business investment.
  • Marketing and IEDC Responses: Promote Lawrence County as a desirable business location and respond to state-level economic development opportunities.
  • Workforce Development: Addressing the county’s workforce needs through training and education initiatives.
