BEDFORD – A report of a possible robbery at the Bedford CVS Pharmacy on 16th Street prompted a police response Wednesday night, but officers found no evidence of a crime.
Bedford Police Sgt. Max Uebelhoer responded to a call at the CVS Pharmacy at 1206 16th Street at 9:30 p.m. on March 11. The initial call to dispatch indicated a potential robbery involving someone in a silver Jeep. However, the caller then changed their report, suggesting it was a drug deal.
Officers located a silver Jeep with an elderly male driver. The driver was checked and reported to be fine. The driver told officers he was unaware of any robbery or drug deal. Officers checked the surrounding CVS parking lot but found nothing suspicious.
Dispatch attempted multiple call-backs to the original caller to gather more information, but the caller did not answer.
To ensure clarity, dispatch was advised to contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Mitchell Police Department to confirm they had not received a similar call, in case the caller was confused about the location and meant the Mitchell CVS.
