BEDFORD– A Bedford woman was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) after a traffic stop on John Williams Boulevard.
According to an affidavit for probable cause filed by Officer Taylor Daugherty of the Bedford Police Department, Dakkota Parkinson, 24, was arrested on charges of OWI, OWI endangerment, and OWI per se (pending blood draw results).

The incident occurred on March 8. While conducting radar patrol, Officer Daugherty observed a gray 2022 Kia K5 GT traveling west on John Williams Boulevard at 51 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. Officer Daugherty initiated a traffic stop at Hillcrest Road and Beech Street.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Daugherty talked to the driver, Dakkota Parkinson, and a female passenger. While speaking with Parkinson, Officer Daugherty detected the odor of alcohol and observed that Parkinson had glossy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. When asked how much she had to drink, Parkinson stated, “I had some earlier tonight.”
Parkinson agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Before the tests, Officer Daugherty had to ask Parkinson to stop leaning on the patrol car, and again detected the odor of alcohol on her breath.
Parkinson performed poorly on the tests. A preliminary breath test yielded a positive result for alcohol, with a blood-alcohol content of 0.107.
Parkinson was read her Miranda rights and Indiana Implied Consent, which she acknowledged. She was then transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for a certified blood draw.
Parkinson was transported to the Bedford Police Department for booking and then to the Lawrence County Jail for housing. The female passenger contacted a family member for a ride. With Parkinson’s permission, the passenger’s family member parked and secured her vehicle in the JayC parking lot.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
