MITCHELL- The Friends of Spring Mill State Park are hosting their annual meeting in the Oak Room of the Spring Mill Inn on Tuesday, March 18th at 6 pm. All members of the Friends of Spring Mill are encouraged to attend. The public is also invited to come and learn about the group, which is dedicated to helping the park.
Friends President Teena Ligman said the group looks forward to the annual meeting of the full membership to celebrate the group’s accomplishments over the past year and discuss plans for the upcoming year. Ligman said she is always happy to report on the Friends group. “We are really a good team,” Ligman said. “We have different members taking ownership of projects and together it has really made a difference.”
Ligman explained members have been working on new displays, a bike station, and a special event in April. She said the Friends have helped get a trail counter system for the park and have some significant things in the works for this spring. They also developed a new cookbook, which is selling well, and other fun items, which she’ll talk about at the meeting.
“We have a lot of exciting things to share and hope people will come learn what we’ve done in the last year and what we’re working on,” Ligman said. She noted they could use help on some of the projects and ideas for future projects, so more community involvement with the Friends group is welcome. “Who wouldn’t want to help Spring Mill?” Ligman asked. “It’s an amazing place and offers so much for all of us- it’s just nice to be able to give back, and this group has fun to boot!”
Mark Young, Park Manager, will also provide park updates, including renovations to the Mill, Distillery, and Nature Center. Though the Inn is mostly complete, the park is still undergoing many changes, and Mark will be available to explain what the next year might include for park visitors.
