The intensive training program began this week, bringing together a mix of experienced and new personnel. Two returning handlers are joined by three new handlers, all eager to hone their skills in critical areas.

Over the next several weeks, the teams will undergo rigorous training focused on:
- Tracking: Mastering the ability to follow human and animal scents.
- Wildlife Detection: Developing the capacity to locate and identify various wildlife species.
- Article/Evidence Search: Enhancing their proficiency in finding and retrieving evidence.
The DNR encourages the public to follow their progress and stay tuned for regular updates on the K-9 teams’ development.
The DNR emphasizes the vital role K-9 units play in conservation efforts and law enforcement, and they are confident that these new teams will serve the state with dedication and excellence.
