Bedford man sentenced to prison for probation violations

BEDFORD – A Bedford man will serve time in the Indiana Department of Correction after repeatedly violating the terms of his probation, according to a ruling by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline on February 13, 2025.

Kevin Brooking

Kevin L. Brooking, 50, had previously pleaded guilty to dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, on May 22, 2024. As part of a plea agreement, he was sentenced to six years, with 159 days of jail credit and the remainder of his sentence suspended. He was placed on probation for five years, with the first year supervised and the remaining four unsupervised.

However, Brooking failed to adhere to the conditions of his probation, leading Judge Cline to revoke the suspended sentence. He was then ordered to serve 2,017 days in the Indiana Department of Correction, and his probation was terminated.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy emphasized the court’s stance on probation violations. “Brooking repeatedly violated his probation despite being given ample opportunity to get into compliance,” Pearcy stated. “Judge Cline will not tolerate a felony probationer who blatantly disregards the terms and conditions of his probation. If the probationer chooses to do that, he can expect prison time.”
