BEDFORD–A Bedford teen was arrested early Saturday morning on multiple charges related to operating a vehicle while intoxicated, including OWI endangerment and Illegal consumption.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Bedford Police Officer Taylor Daugherty, the incident occurred at approximately 1:34 a.m. on February 15, 2025, near John Williams Blvd and Lincoln Ave. Officer Daugherty observed a vehicle traveling erratically, including driving the wrong way in a roundabout and then crossing a center curb into oncoming traffic.

After initiating a traffic stop, Officer Daugherty contacted the driver, Nikolas Blevins, 18, of Bedford, and a passenger. The officer detected the odor of alcohol from the vehicle and, subsequently, from Blevins himself. Blevins initially denied consuming any alcohol. Officer Daugherty noted that Blevins exhibited poor balance and glassy, bloodshot eyes.
Blevins agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed. A preliminary breath test registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.12 percent. After being read his Miranda Rights and Indiana Implied Consent, Blevins submitted to a certified chemical breath test, which resulted in a blood-alcohol content of 0.113 percent at 2:21 a.m.
Blevins was then transported to the Lawrence County Jail. His vehicle was towed, and a friend picked up the passenger.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
