BEDFORD— The City of Bedford Board of Works and Safety met Tuesday at StoneGate Arts and Education Center, where Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore presented several requests for approval.
The board approved an agreement with McIntyre Brothers for the 2025 spring and fall tornado siren inspections. The agreement covers 10 sirens at a total cost of $6,200.

Additionally, the board accepted Officer Justin Gilbert’s resignation. Gilbert has served with the Bedford Police Department for 20 years. Chief Moore and the board expressed their gratitude for his dedication to the city and its citizens and wished him well in his future endeavors.
The board also approved the transition of two officers to permanent status. Officers Stuart Ratcliff and Aaron Manke successfully completed their one-year probationary periods while maintaining exemplary performance standards. Chief Moore commended their service, and the board congratulated them on achieving permanent status.
Further, the board approved the Bedford Police Department’s participation in Operation Pullover/DUI Taskforce and accepted grant funding for the program totaling $27,025.
The next Board of Works and Safety meeting is scheduled for March 18.
