Bedford Board of Works and Safety approves bus disposal, new equipment purchase

BEDFORDThe City of Bedford Board of Works and Safety met on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at StoneGate Arts and Education Center. Members approved multiple requests from Street Department Director Dennis Parsley.

Street Department Director Dennis Parsley addressed the board

Parsley sought acceptance to begin the disposal process for three out-of-service TASC buses that have been replaced by newer models. The buses meet Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) regulations for disposal and are no longer needed in the city’s fleet. The board unanimously approved the request.

In addition, Parsley requested approval for the purchase and acceptance of a new John Deere tractor and side mower at a cost of $135,491.16. The new equipment replaces a 40-year-old tractor that had been in use by the department. Board members approved the purchase, citing the need for updated machinery to maintain city infrastructure effectively.

The next Board of Works and Safety meeting is scheduled for March 18 at the same location.
