INDIANAPOLIS – Ascension St. Vincent has announced that its new hospital in Indianapolis will be named the Lucas Family Brain and Spine Hospital, honoring the founders of Lucas Oil, Forrest, and Charlotte Lucas, for their longstanding support of the hospital.

Katie Lucas, President of Lucas Oil and Board Chair of the Ascension St. Vincent Foundation, shared that the Lucas family has had a personal connection to the hospital for over two decades, experiencing firsthand the high level of care provided. “Our family has been incredibly fortunate to receive exceptional care at Ascension St. Vincent, and it is an honor to support the hospital in this meaningful way,” said Katie Lucas.
Forrest Lucas, the founder of Lucas Oil, has deep ties to Indiana, having grown up in Columbus before embarking on a career as a truck driver. He later founded his own trucking company, ultimately leading to the creation of Lucas Oil, one of the most recognized brands in the industry.
The new 109,000-square-foot hospital broke ground in November 2022 and is a key part of a $325 million expansion at Ascension St. Vincent’s 86th Street Campus. Scheduled to open this summer, the Lucas Family Brain and Spine Hospital will offer advanced medical care with state-of-the-art facilities, including 38 ICU rooms, eight operating suites, and two interventional neuroradiology labs, according to the hospital.
This hospital is set to become a leading center for brain and spine care, offering the latest technology and treatment options for patients in need of specialized care. The Lucas family’s project support is a testament to their commitment to the community and the hospital’s mission of providing exceptional healthcare to all.
