Huntingburg Police Department launches camera registry to aid in crime prevention and investigation

HUNTINGBURG — The Huntingburg Police Department has launched a new Camera Registry program, inviting residents and business owners to register their security cameras with the department voluntarily. The initiative aims to strengthen community policing efforts and enhance the ability to solve crimes more quickly.

If a crime or incident occurs in an area with a registered camera, police may reach out to the camera owner to request footage that could assist with the investigation. This collaborative approach is designed to expedite investigations and increase the chances of solving crimes using available video evidence from local security cameras.

“The Camera Registry program is an excellent way for our community to actively participate in keeping Huntingburg safe,” said Police Chief Brad Kramer. “By registering their cameras, residents and businesses can play a key role in helping us solve crimes and bring criminals to justice.”

The Huntingburg Police Department has emphasized that property owners’ information and camera footage will remain confidential, ensuring privacy and security for participants in the program.

For more information on the Camera Registry or to sign up, residents are encouraged to visit the department’s Facebook page, where full details and instructions are available.

This new initiative reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to fostering stronger relationships with the community and working together to prevent and address crime in Huntingburg.
