BEDFORD – A Mitchell man was sentenced to prison on January 23, 2025, after failing to comply with the terms of his probation.
Richard Pemberton, 35, was ordered to serve time in the Indiana Department of Correction by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline.

Pemberton had previously pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. Under the agreement, he was sentenced to 730 days in prison, with 714 days suspended, and ordered to serve 545 days of supervised probation.
However, after not meeting the conditions of his probation, Judge Cline issued a sentence of 666 days in the Indiana Department of Correction, terminating Pemberton’s probation. The decision came after a hearing in which it was determined that Pemberton had violated his probation terms.

The State was represented by Deputy Prosecuting Kristen Meza during the proceedings.
