Board of Works approve health insurance contract with AIM Medical Trust pending City Council approval

BEDFORD – The Bedford Board of Works approved a new contract with AIM Medical Trust for health insurance for city employees. The cost of the new agreement will be $3.1 million.

Anthem Medicare has been the primary provider for city employees, however, they notified the city of an increased cost of approximately $5 million. The city also obtained bids from United Medical with costs estimated at $3.7 million.

Under previous insurance premium renewals, the city had to renew the contract before the budget process for the city. This new agreement will provide renewals to take place in January of each year to better align with the budget process.

The proposal now moves on to the Bedford City Council.
