Two-vehicle crash on I-465 claims the life of an Indianapolis man

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday afternoon on I-465 in which a man from Indianapolis was killed.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Mike Risley indicates at approximately 2:40 p.m., a 2018 Ford Transit van driven by 53-year-old James W. Simison of Indianapolis was exiting onto Southeastern Avenue from southbound I-465.

Simison’s vehicle then struck the rear of a slow-moving semi-trailer being pulled by a 2020 Peterbilt semi-tractor driven by 40-year-old Eduardo Martinez Escobedo from Mexico.  As a result of the crash, Simison suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.  His family has been notified.  Escobedo was not injured.

Drugs/alcohol are not suspected and this crash remains under investigation.  There is no additional information at this time.
