BEDFORD – Scott Smith has announced his intention to run for County Commissioner District 1 in the May 2022 Republican Primary.
Smith is the current County Council President. He has established himself as a leader in fighting for our conservative values while maintaining an honest and balanced budget. He is proud of the work that has been accomplished in collaboration with other leaders, but more challenges lay ahead.
Smith is a husband, father, small business owner, and proud lifetime Lawrence County resident. He was born, raised, and grew up on a family farm just outside of Bedford. This county has given him and his family so much in a safe, secure community to build a home and raise a family plus ongoing support while growing a successful business.
“I want to continue serving the members of this community that has provided me with so much opportunity by serving as your next County Commissioner,” Smith said. “We need strong, respectful leadership to reflect and represent the kind, hardworking people of our county fairly and accurately.”
District 1 is the only district that will be up for election in 2022 of the three Commissioners.
Smith concluded, “We need leadership that strives to better our community by attracting quality employers, supporting our agricultural base, and ensuring we protect the qualities of life that keep our region thriving. I promise to take on these challenges like I do everything in my life, I will dig in on day one with wholehearted passion. No one can succeed alone, we must all work together to move Lawrence County forward.”
