Indiana ranks #22 for states that decorate the most for Halloween

Get your pumpkins and ghosts ready, Halloween is right around the corner! A new study reveals that 41% of Americans start decorating for Halloween in the first week of October.

But which state loves to decorate the most? Lombardo Homes analyzed over 1,000 Halloween decoration Google search terms to see just how popular the holiday is in each state.

Here’s what they found:

  • In Indiana, the most popular items to decorate with are corn stalks.
  • Indiana ranks 22nd for states that decorate the most for Halloween.
  • The top 5 states that decorate the most: Utah, Illinois, New Jersey, Texas, New Mexico
  • The top items to decorate with: skeletons, pumpkins, spiders/spider webs, witches, bats
  • The average person spends $145 per year on Halloween decorations.
