Bedford man dies in a work-related accident in West Virginia

PARKERSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A Bedford man was fatally injured Wednesday, September 22 while assisting a crane in operation in Wood County, West Virginia.

Taylor Michael Miller, 18, of Bedford, was assisting a crane in operation when that came in contact with power lines. Taylor was electrocuted while he was holding a large hook attached to the crane when the crane hit the power lines. The incident took place at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The accident is under investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and no one else was injured in the incident.

Taylor Michael Miller, 18, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, in Parkersburg, WV.

Born May 24, 2003, in Monroe County, he was the son of Carl II and Mindie (Schroeder) Miller. Taylor was baptized at the Valley Mission Nazarene Church and attended Oolitic Trinity Pentecostal Church. He was a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School with the Class of 2021. He worked as a laborer for Layne, A Company of Granite.

Taylor loved working out, weightlifting, and enjoyed playing golf. He had been a member of the BNL Jazz Band.

Surviving is his parents, Carl II and Mindie Miller of Bedford; his sister, Aleah Brooke Miller; his brother, Gavin Cole Miller; maternal grandmother, Connie Sue May of Bedford; paternal grandparents, Carl and Teresa Miller of Oolitic; paternal great grandparents, Jack and Glenda Cobb of Oolitic and maternal great grandmother, Beulah Fryman of Rising Sun; Aunts and Uncles, Stacie Sons and her husband, Andrew, Deena Butera, Harold Brown, and Michelle Richardson and her husband Jeff, all of Bedford, and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 30th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Day & Carter on Wednesday, September 29th from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m..
