Obituary: Lee Clark “Plush” Powell

April 18, 1928 – July 10, 1948

Lee Clark “Plush” Powell, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.

Born April 18, 1928, in Orange County, he was the son of Walter Clarence and Sarah Lois (Pruett) Powell. He married Mary Florence Stroud July 10, 1948, and she preceded him in death April 14, 2018.

Lee retired as vice president of Rogers Group, Inc. with 42 years of service.  He was a Hall of Fame member of Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association and a member of National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association. Lee was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon.  He was Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M., and a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He had served as president of the Mitchell Economic Corporation. Lee was heavily involved with kids in sports, and he built most of the sports fields in Mitchell.

Survivors include his sons, Philip Lynn (Nancy Jo) Powell of Greenwood, Teddy Lee (Jo-Ellen) Powell of Bloomington, Bradley Devin (Malinda) Powell of Mitchell,  Danny Kyle (Kimberly Sue) Powell of Mitchell, grandchildren, Ryan Nicholas (Amy) Powell, Kyle Christopher Powell,   Natalie Jo (John) Tritle, Nicole Lee (Aaron) White, Laura Elizabeth (Jared) Rains, Dason Reed Powell, Tanner Lee  (Brogan) Powell, and Aaron (Brittany) Powell, great-grandchildren, Ava White, Cooper White, Cadence Powell, Daxton Powell, Abigail Powell, Emerson Powell, Tinsley Powell, Teigan Powell, Carson Powell, Brantley Powell, and Tucker Tritle siblings, Billy Dean Powell of Mitchell, Dolores Martha Beasley of Mitchell, Bernard Earl Powell of Bedford

His parents; wife; and brothers, George Robert Powell and Lyle Scott “Bud” Powell, preceded him in death.

Visitation and funeral with church members and family will be private on Sunday, July 19, 2020.

Pastor Bryce Menaugh will officiate and burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn.

 A memorial service will be conducted by Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F.&A.M.
