2019 Lawrence County Job Fair Wednesday

(BEDFORD) – The 2019 Lawrence County Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, May 22.

The job fair will be held at Bender Lumber Banquet Hall in Bedford from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Coordinating the free event are WorkOne South Central, the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council.
There also will be a free information session called “How to Land a Job at a Job Fair” at 1 p.m.
Those who attend the session will be allowed to enter the job fair before the general public to talk with participating businesses.
So far, the companies expected to be there include Brent Maudlin State Farm, IU Health, Lawrence County, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Steak ‘N Shake, W.F. Meyers Co. Inc., J.C. Penney, Mikels Towing and Recovery, Basin Material Handling and Aggregate Manufacturing International, among others.
There’s no cost for businesses to participate.
Zarod Myers, membership and communications director at the Bedford Chamber says the job fair provides a service to employers to assist with their recruitment efforts and to allow residents to find employment or a better job. There are no guarantee people will be hired on the spot, but landing an interview is a strong possibility since some employers may start the hiring process that day.
Myers recommends those seeking a job dress appropriately and to bring 15 to 20 resumes with them to hand to employers.
And participants who are not the right fit for any of the companies attending the job fair will have the opportunity to sign up with Indiana Career Connect using laptops that will be available on site.
