Spring Into Safety For Your Children And Prepare For Year-Round Car Seat Safety With Riley Physicians

(BLOOMINGTON) – Even the safest driver can be involved in a car accident.

Call 812-333-2304 to schedule a free car seat check with Riley Physicians this spring and better protect your children while traveling year-round.
“There are over 270 million registered vehicles in the U.S. and millions of vehicle accidents a year,” said Jennifer Hacker, Child Passenger Safety Technician. “Our goal is to ensure all children in Monroe County are as safe as possible while they are in vehicles by providing free car seat inspections.”
Trained professionals conduct these free car seat inspections in order to teach parents and guardians best practices through car seat inspections, valuable information, and resources.
Fast facts from the National Safety Council:

  • There were an estimated 40,000 car crash fatalities in the U.S. in 2018
  • Around 4.5 million serious injuries were due to car crashes in 2018

“We encourage participants to bring the car seat and vehicle instruction manuals, the car seat that will be used, the vehicle the car seat will be in, and the child who will be in the car seat,” said Hacker. “All of these help the instructor by providing information that can majorly affect how safe the child is while they’re in the car, truck or other vehicle.
These free car seat safety checks are offered in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute in order to help the public learn to better protect children while they’re in vehicles.
Children less than 8 years of age are required by Indiana’s child passenger safety law to be properly restrained in a federally approved child restraint system. Children should be in the back seat until at least the age of 12.
