Patricia S. Wallskog – Bedford
Patricia S. Wallskog, 59, of Bedford, died at 5:30 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born July 31, 1953 in Greene Co., she was the daughter of Robert E. and Juanita (Voorhies) Smith. She married Duke Wallskog on May 17, 1975 and he survives.
She had worked as a Nurse Technician at Bedford Regional Medical Center for fifteen years. She was affiliated with the Prevention of Child Abuse Association and had been the owner and operator of House of Kids Daycare in Bedford for fifteen years. She was most recently employed by Arrow Consulting. She was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise.
Survivors include her husband, Duke of Bedford; a son, Adam Wallskog and his fiancé, Emmalee Hamilton of Bedford; a nephew, Jesse Smith who was raised in the home; a grandson, Collin Wallskog; a brother, Bob Smith and Mary, of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Thursday, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Gary Thomas and Pastor Tom Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Owensburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Wallace H. Thacker – Bedford
Wallace H. Thacker, 85, of Bedford, passed away quietly in Indianapolis, IN on Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Born April 11, 1928, in Crystal, IN, he was the son of Wallace and Lowell (Cave) Thacker, both of whom preceded him in death.
He had the good fortune to be married to two extraordinary women, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Mary Alice Hall on September 27, 1956 and later married Juanita “Jay” Fine on December 28, 1994. He was an accomplished athlete as a young man, setting numerous records at Dubois High School. He remained a loyal Jeep, closely following the highs and lows of both the boys and girls basketball teams. He served in the Army from 1946-1950 and returned to earn a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and the Indiana State Teacher’s College. He worked as the Controller for Triangle & Leahy Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1990. Following retirement, he became a realtor working for Century 21 and later Williams Carpenter Realty in Bedford until 2007. While in Bedford, he was active in the Elk’s Lodge, served on the Dunn Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and was a member of the Avoca Baptist Church. He loved the Indiana Hoosiers and the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed golf, gardening, travel and walking the beach on Hilton Head Island.
Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Estell (Greg) and grandson, Henry Wallace Estell of Fishers, IN; a sister, Margaret Seitz of Bloomington; a brother, Robert Thacker of Huntingburg; three step-sons, Darryl Fine of Terre Haute, Byron Fine of Bloomington and Adrian Fine of Los Angeles, CA; a step-daughter, Julia Fine of Bloomington; beloved nieces, cousins and their families.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, June 7 in the Elmwood Chapel at Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, June 6.

Jacqueline Ann Childers – Bedford
Jacqueline Ann Childers, 79, of Bedford, died at 1:02 pm on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born December 17, 1933 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of John and Lottie (Child) Hamer. She was a teacher at Oakland City College; a legal secretary for Don Hickman, Attorney; and secretary at the First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Tri Kappa and Chi Omega Sororities. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was active in the sewing circle making teddy bears for children in local hospitals.
Survivors include two daughters, Lori Elkins and husband, Jim, Kelly McDowell and husband, Darren all of Bedford; two sons, Jay and Mike Childers both of Bedford; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Georgia (Gee) Lucas and husband, Jim of GA, Helen Lahrman and husband, Bob of Brownstown and Doris (Dee) Hamer of OR; a brother, John Hamer and wife, Cathy of MO; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, Debbie Gamble and a great nephew, C.J. Gamble.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Thursday, June 6 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Mark McDaniel officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the Hamer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 5, at Day and Carter Mortuary and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, June 6 at the church.
