Bloomington’s Community Farmers’ Market provides a bounty of summer produce

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington’s Farmers’ Market season comes with absolutely gorgeous summer produce.

Celebrate National Dairy Month this June with delicious recipes starring milk and cheese.

June is also National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month, National Candy Month, National Country Cooking Month, National Iced Tea Month, and National Soul Food Month.

Cai Caudill Performing At Market

Performing at 10:30 a.m. this coming Saturday is Cai Caudill former guitarist and vocalist for indie rock band Secret Mezzanine.

The group formed in Fort Wayne and enjoyed a six-year run. Cai pulls together bits and pieces from all over the musical spectrum to create a sound fit for any moment. He’s previously toured the Midwest and East Coast but is now looking to find a sound all his own.

Tuesday Market Returns Next Week

Visit, shop, and support local farmers and growers, and small businesses, at Switchyard Park on Tuesdays, June thru September.

Tuesday Market begins June 6, 2023, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and is held on the brick plaza north of the Pavilion building, 1611 S. Rogers Street.

Admission to Tuesday Market is free. Free parking is available in the Switchyard Park parking lots off South Rogers Street, South Walnut Street, and Grimes Lane. To visit the Tuesday Market via Bloomington Transit, take #2 South Rogers/Countryview. 

From Farm To Table

Dinner with the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Switchyard Park Pavilion.

The cost is $75 a person. Click here to register online by August 11.

Connect to the origins of your food at this dinner that celebrates local food and the hardworking people who grow and prepare it.

Dinner will be served family style at tables of eight.

Chef Corbin Morwick

Menu and cooking services are provided by Chef Corbin Morwick from One World Catering. Corbin is an award-winning, self-taught chef who strives to provide the freshest, most innovative menus utilizing locally sourced ingredients.

Dinner ingredients will, where possible, come directly from Bloomington Community Farmers Market vendors.

Mayor At The Market

Mayor at the Market is a community outreach program that invites Market-goers to interact with the mayor and various department heads from the City of Bloomington government.

Most Saturday mornings, either Mayor Hamilton, Deputy Mayor Mary Catherine Carmichael, or one of nineteen department heads will be at the Farmers’ Market to answer resident questions and discuss issues of interest in the city.

Beth Cate

This week, Beth Cate, Corporation Counsel for the City of Bloomington will be greeting the public at the Market from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

 First Annual Youth Artists’ And Growers’ Day At The Market 

The Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market is hosting its first annual Youth Artists’ and Growers’ Day at the Market on Saturday, July 1 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Young farmers, craft artists, growers, and entrepreneurs ages 6-17 years old are invited to apply for their own 9′ x 6′ booth space during this special day for youth at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market.

Youth will keep all their profits as they experience a day of running their own stands. The Market is hosting other youth-oriented activities and youth-led entertainment too!
