GM to fix 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 units for incorrect tailgate cable

INDIANA – General Motors has issued a service update for certain units of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck due to a problem related to the endgate cable.

Affected vehicles may have a condition where the incorrect endgate cable was installed. Certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect affected vehicles, and replace the endgate cable as necessary. GM estimates that it should techs roughly 25 minutes to complete this fix.

According to GM, only eight vehicles are believed to be affected by this recall. As a result, The General has recommended that dealers do not order the required parts for shelf stock.

GM will notify owners of affected vehicles with letters and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer.
