Freetown man arrested after crashing into a utility pole in Seymour

SEYMOUR – On Wednesday, May 10, at approximately 10 p.m. the Seymour Police Department received a report of a possible personal injury crash in the area of South Walnut Street and North Park Drive. When they arrived they found a utility pole had been severed.

Officers attempted to speak with the driver, who police say appeared impaired.

Franklin Sessions

Officers attempted to move the driver, Franklin D. Sessions, 27, of Freetown, away from the vehicle for everyone’s safety due to low-hanging wires. Sessions ignored commands and forcibly resisted officers as they attempted to escort him from the area. To gain control of Sessions, officers deployed a less lethal option by using a conducted energy device which is commonly known as a taser.

Once Sessions was under control, emergency medical services were called to the scene to make sure the driver was not in any distress. Sessions were then transported to the hospital where a toxicology sample was taken after a Jackson Circuit Court search 1arrant was obtained.

Sessions were arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, and leaving the scene of a property damage crash, as Sessions had left the scene of another crash prior to striking the utility pole.
