Salem man receives prison sentence in Lawrence County Court after pleading guilty to fraud, escape

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III sentenced a Salem man to 6 years and 244 days in the Indiana Department of Corrections Wednesday.

Michael McDonald, 59, pled guilty to Fraud on a Financial Institution, a Level 5 felony in one case, and guilty to Escape, a Level 6 felony in another case as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana.

The plea agreement, negotiated by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Sarah Cummings, called for McDonald to serve 6 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections, credit for 91 days with 5 years and 244 days suspended to supervised probation in one case and in the second negotiated plea agreement for McDonald to serve 1 year in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

These sentences are to be consecutive to each other.
