The squad consists of experienced troopers who each have expansive backgrounds in things such as drug and gun investigations, drug interdiction techniques, and criminal investigations. In addition to their patrol duties that include crash investigations, traffic enforcement, and responding to emergency calls, these troopers use analytical data to identify high crime areas, then strategically work together to monitor and patrol those areas to intercept criminal activities.

The majority of their investigations begin as traffic stops, the troopers then work to connect criminal activity discovered during the traffic stop to other crimes or criminal activity.
