According to Seymour Police Lt. C.J. Foster, detectives began their investigation on May 22, 2022, after receiving a complaint from the mother of a 9-year-old that claimed they had been molested in the area of South Broadway Street in Seymour. Detectives with the department along with investigators from the Department of Child Services collected evidence and information related to the case.

During an interview, the child told police Shouse had touched her private area and kissed her on the lips.

Shouse was out on bail when he failed to appear for a court date on May 1. A warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear on May 2 and he was arrested on May 4.

His jury trial is scheduled for July 11, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. in Jackson County Circuit Court with Judge Richard Poynter persuading.
