INDIANA – Multiple strong storms, including tornado warnings and heavy rain, came through Central Indiana and Illinois on Friday night.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Matt Ames confirmed that three deaths happened in Sullivan.
State Police also said the local VFW is gone and several trees and power lines are down in the area.
Governor Eric J. Holcomb will receive an update from Sullivan Mayor Clint Lamb and other local officials about storm damage in Sullivan and surrounding areas. The Governor will be joined by State Fire Marshal Steve Jones and Indiana State Superintendent Doug Carter at 2:30 p.m. today
Emergency personnel from Greene, Knox, and Vigo counties responded to assist Sullivan County in search and rescue efforts.
Lincoln Trail College reported the school’s Crisp Center in Crawford County, Indiana was destroyed Friday, but confirmed there was no one in the building when the storm hit.
Homes in Paragon and Martinsville in Morgan County sustained considerable damage, according to preliminary information received by the agency.
The severe line of storms that went through Indiana Friday evening led to power outages.
According to Duke Energy’s outage map, more than 27,000 people were without power just before midnight.
