Two were injured in a two-vehicle accident on State Road 37 and Patton Hill Road

OOLITIC – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday near the intersection of State Road 37 and Patton Hill Road.

The accident was reported at 8:57 p.m. 

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report  Scott Manns, 53, of Macy was traveling south on State Road 37 in his 2013 red Freight Cor. Also traveling south was a gray Toyota Rav4 driven by Douglas Bright, 61, of Solsberry.

According to police both vehicles were in motion and passed the intersection of State Road 37 and Patton Hill Road when Bright’s car collided with the rear of Manns’ trailer.

Bright said he was driving when all of a sudden he noticed a vehicle in front of him. He told police he tried to stop to avoid the collision but was unable to.

Bright’s car had heavy front-end damage. A tire was deflated on Manns’ tailer. Estimated damages were between $5,001 to $10,000.

Police say Bright complained of chest and shoulder pain and said his fingertips were going numb. He was transported to IU Health Hospital for treatment. Manns complained of back pain but refused medical attention.
