Commissioners approve lease with Indiana Health Center, increasing health care options in Lawrence County

BEDFORD – The Lawrence County Commissioners Tuesday morning approved a lease agreement with Indiana Health Center. The lease agreement must now be approved by the council.

The lease agreement will allow Indiana Health Center to lease buildings at 2409 and 2415 Mitchell Road in the former Dunn Plaza. The rental area is approximately 9,695 square feet.

The buildings will be used for general medical offices and patient care facilities. The lease will begin on March 1, 2023, and end on Feb. 28, 2028

The annual base rent is $116,340 and the monthly installment of rent is $9,696.

According to Chief Executive Officer Ann Lundy RN, BSN, MBA, who attended today’s meeting, Indiana Health Centers, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Health Center that has provided high-quality, affordable, patient-centered health care and behavioral services to underserved areas of Indiana since 1977.

“IHC operates 10 health centers in seven different Indiana counties,” said Lundy. “We have locations in Sullivan and Seymour and are currently seeing patients from Bedford in those locations. IHC provides medical, dental, and behavioral health care to all who seek care, regardless of their ability to pay. The health centers serve people who have Medicaid, Medicare, HIP, and most commercial insurance companies, and provide a sliding fee scale for those without insurance.”

The facility will also offer obstetrics care.

“We will offer a care plan that supports a healthy pregnancy and prenatal care and care to women and children,” added Lundy. “We will help them navigate the system for delivery.”

The facility plans to be up and running in April 2023.
