OOLITIC – A Seymour man was arrested Tuesday after a report of a domestic fight in the 10 block of West Teddy Bird Lane.

According to a probable cause affidavit, police arrested 40-year-old Adam Gebhart on charges of domestic battery and resisting arrest.

Police responded to the home after a 911 call from the female victim. When police arrived at 7:19 p.m. they found the woman standing in the driveway. As officers approached her she said, “He just hit me and he tried to cut me with the key.”

The woman then pointed to the woods and stated, “He went down that way.” She also said Gebhart could be in possession of a firearm.

Oolitic Town Marshal James Harrington found Gebhart hiding under the rear portion of a shed that was located on the property.  Not knowing if Gebhart was armed he was ordered out from under the shed at gunpoint. Gebhart refused to comply with commands to get out from under the shed, but he eventually complied. Gebhart was not armed with any weapons.

Police say Gebhart was intoxicated and later learned he had consumed a pint bottle of Vodka.

The woman said Gebhart shoved a key into her arm. She also suffered redness and scratches on the left side of her neck, on her left arm, and on her left elbow.

The woman signed a battery affidavit.

Gebhart was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for a medical evaluation due to his breath alcohol content registering 0.254 grams of alcohol per 210 liter of breath on a portable breath test. After being medically cleared he was transported to jail.
