Investigators continue to search for Donna Mitchell who disappeared three years ago this month

HOPE – Donna Mitchell has been missing for three years and Decatur County authorities are asking for the public’s help.

Donna Mitchell

Donna Mitchell was last seen on Feb. 11, 2020, at the Brown Bottle liquor store in Hartsville, Indiana, and was headed to a home near County Road 60 Southwest and County Road 600 South in Decatur County. She was traveling to a friend’s house in Letts, Indiana.

Hartsville is only about an hour and 20 minutes from Bedford, Indiana.

Mitchell was driving a maroon 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer when she went missing, which was never recovered. The Indiana license plate on the vehicle was 902QAK.

Investigators searched the area where Mitchell was believed to have been traveling and completed aerial searches with no results. Property owners in the area allowed investigators to search ponds and lakes in the area with sonar equipment, but again, investigators were unable to find Mitchell or any clues on what happened to her.

Mitchell was born on January 2, 1963. She is a white woman, 5 foot 3 inches, 115 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing glasses, a tan Carhart jacket, and blue jeans with a flower decal on the pant leg.

Additional investigators have been assigned to the case and will be actively pursuing old and new leads.

Anyone with information that has not yet been shared with police, or has information about ponds, lakes or filled-in ponds or lakes that police may not have searched is asked to call the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department at 812-663-8125.
