Woman complains of head pain after three-vehicle collision

JUDAH – A Bedford woman was injured after a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 37 and Old State Road 37, Thursday morning.

The accident was reported at 9:40 a.m.

According to a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report, 27-year-old Emily Ward, of Bedford, was driving a blue Toyota Rav 4 and was stopped in traffic when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a silver Toyota Rav 2 driven by 21-year-old Haley Lewis, of French Lick.

Lewis was stopped behind Ward’s vehicle when her car was struck in the rear by a gray Ford Escape driven by 21-year-old Kennedy Baxter, of Bedford,  which pushed Lewis’ car into Ward’s vehicle.

Baxter told police she was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision because her vehicle slid on the wet pavement.

Police say Baxter was following too closely and going too fast for the weather conditions to avoid the collision.

Ward complained of head pain and was treated at the scene. She refused further medical treatment.

Total damages were estimated between $10,001 to $25,000. All three vehicles were driven from the scene.
