Deputy Pressley attempted to detain Sanders but Sanders resisted, causing Pressley to lose control of Sanders. Pressley was injured during the struggle and Sanders was able to evade her.

Sanders fled to his vehicle and recklessly drove away.

Sheriff Josh Greene was able to gain distance on Sander’s blue Ford Ranger on State Road 450. At times, Sanders was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour. Sanders stopped at a residence in Trinity Springs.

Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter around the residence. Additional assistance was provided by the Indiana State Police, Loogootee Police Department, and Indiana Conservation Law Enforcement. A lengthy search ensued throughout the night and the next morning. However, Sanders was never located.

Deputy Pressley was treated and released from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center and returned to work on Friday.

Sheriff Josh Greene’s posted a comment on Facebook.

As you know, you are wanted by Me. You have warrants and injured one of my Deputies yesterday. I have your truck in a safe location that is accumulating daily storage fees.

Feel free to come see me 24/7 at the Martin County Jail. I have a bed waiting for you.
