Seymour Police arrest two in connection with numerous thefts from local retailers

SEYMOUR – Seymour Police arrest two people after a theft in Seymour who are also wanted for numerous thefts from Home Depot stores in Noblesville and Carmel.

On Friday police arrested 36-year-old Donilla Dismukes, of Lafayette, and 50-year-old Scotty Gatlin, of Chicago, IL. in connection with the theft of $1,000 of merchandise at the Walmart Supercenter in Seymour on Oct. 6, 2022.

The store’s asset protection provided a description of Gatlin and Dismukes after the incident and the vehicle was out of Illinois.

Investigators then contacted asset protection with The Home Depot and provided them with the description of Dismukes and Gatlin and their vehicle from the Walmart incident,

Home Depot asset protection told police the individuals from the Walmart incident had also pushed out three cartloads of items totaling over than $6,000 of merchandise they had not paid for.

On Friday, investigators received a call from Home Depot asset protection reporting Dismukes and Gatlin were back in the store and had a cart loaded with merchandise.

The two left the store without the merchandise. Seymour Police stopped their vehicle on Tipton Street near I-65 and they were detained. Police said they discovered several stolen Milwaukee and Ryobi battery-powered tools in the vehicle.

Gatlin and Dismukes were arrested on theft charges from the incidents at Walmart and Home Depot in Seymour. and they took the two were detained for questioning and the vehicle was taken as evidence.

Additional charges of theft will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney in reference to the two being in possession of stolen items from the Noblesville Home Depot.
