Traffic stop for unsafe slow speed results in discovery of drugs and counterfeit bills

LAGRANGE CO. – A traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road resulted in the arrest of three females from Illinois after troopers discovered drugs and counterfeit money.

On January 13, at approximately 11:27 a.m. Trooper Samuel Waterhouse stopped a red Ford SUV for travelling at an unsafe slow speed in the left lane of the Indiana Toll Road near the 112 mile marker, eastbound.  Waterhouse reported that the Ford was travelling in the left lane at approximately 45 miles per hour in the 70 mile per hour zone.  

While Waterhouse spoke to the driver, Nahgeyanna James, 25 of Chicago, IL he smelled the odor of raw marijuana coming from the Ford.  This led to a search of the Ford and the discovery of approximately 30 grams of suspected marijuana, a pill suspected to be Ecstasy, and 30 counterfeit $100 bills.

James was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

The front seat passenger, identified as Chantay Green, 24 of Illinois was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, fraud, and counterfeiting. 

The backseat passenger, identified as Victoria Dowells, 26 of Chicago, IL was arrested for an active warrant out of Lake County, IN, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled Substance.

James, Green, and Dowells were taken to the LaGrange County Jail.
