BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on December 29th after a woman reported that 43-year-old Joshua McBride was attempting to run her vehicle off the roadway on Mitchell Road.

The female told police she was in a white truck and McBride was in a yellow tracker behind her vehicle. She reported McBride had rear-ended her vehicle.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the area. While en route Bedford Police were also alerted.

A Bedford Police officer found the female caller at the Citgo station on Mitchell Road.

Other officers attempted to locate McBride. They spotted his vehicle on 27th Street in the alleyway. However, McBride had fled the vehicle.

The female told police she was a passenger in the truck and was traveling south on State Road 37 between Arby’s and 16th Street. The male driver of the vehicle spotted McBride in a yellow tracker following them. He followed the couple until they reached Root’s RV where they pulled into the parking lot. McBride also pulled into the lot and side-swiped their truck. The driver of the truck exited the parking lot and was headed south on State Road 37. McBride followed and was riding the bumper of the truck and then struck the truck in the rear. The Tracker got stuck on the truck’s ball hitch. The driver of the truck weaved back and forth in the roadway traveling toward Bedford until McBride’s Tracker came loose from the hitch.

The driver of the truck said McBride stopped and pulled the front bumper from the Tracker and began traveling at a high rate of speed to catch them. The driver of the truck said he slammed on his brakes and McBride passed them. A short time later they met with police at the Citgo station.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers located McBride later that day and he was arrested on charges of invasion of privacy for violating a protective order and criminal mischief.
