BEDFORD – Heath Hawkins is formally announcing his intention to file for one of the At-Large Bedford City Council seats in the upcoming Republican primary.

Heath Hawkins

Two years ago Hawkins chose to get involved in the local political environment by taking on the role of Lawrence County Republican Party Chairman.

“I would like to make further effort to work on the city’s behalf on the Bedford City Council. This city gave me and my family a strong foundation to build our lives upon, and I hope to do my part in ensuring that Bedford continues to be a great place to live and thrive for my daughter and the rest of the families in our great community,” said Hawkins.

“I care deeply about Bedford being a safe, healthy, and inspiring place for my young daughter to grow and excel. Personally growing up around, and eventually being a part of a local family business, I also care deeply about Bedford being a welcoming community where businesses and entrepreneurs can achieve great success.  I look forward to sharing my vision for Bedford, and listening and learning from voters about the issues that concern them.”

Along with currently serving as the Lawrence County Republican Party Chairman, he is the vice president on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County, a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Bedford and a sales and operations manager at Hawkins Bailey Warehouse in Bedford.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Louisville and is a proud alumnus of Bedford North Lawrence High School.
